|
BACTOF is indicated for susceptible bacteria causing: |
| |
|
|
|
|
| |
|
|
|
- Folliculitis, furunculosis, carbuncle, erysipelas, phlegmon, lymphangitis / lymphadenitis,
subcutaneous abscess, spiradenitis, acne conglobata, infectious atheroma, perianal abscess.
- Mastitis, superficial secondary infections in traumas, burns, operative wound, etc.
- Pharyngolaryngitis, acute bronchitis, tonsillitis, chronic bronchitis, bronchiectasis (at infection),
diffuse panbronchiolitis, secondary infections of chronic respiratory diseases, pneumonia.
- Pyelonephritis, cystitis, prostatitis, epididymitis, gonococcal urethritis, non-gonococcal
urethritis.
- Cholecystitis, cholangitis.
- Bacillary dysentery, enteritis.
- Uterine adnexitis, intrauterine infection, cervicitis, bartholinitis.
- Blepharitis, hordeolum, dacryocystitis, tarsadenitis, keratohelcosis
- Otitis media, sinusitis.
- Periodontitis, pericoronitis, gnathitis.
- Leprosy and tuberculosis as an adjuvant.

Contraindications |

|
|
|
BACTOF is contraindicated in those with known hypersensitivity to its ingredients, pregnant women,
or those having possibilities of being pregnant, and in children. Breast feeding is to be avoided whilst
on BACTOF treatment. |

Precautions & Warnings |

| |
|
|
|
BACTOF is to be advocated with caution in severe nephropathy, convulsive disorders, known hyper
sensitivity to quinolones and in elderly patients. It should be coadministered with caution alongwith
nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, antacids, hematinics and anticoagulants.

Adverse Reactions |
| |
|
|
|
|
| |
|
|
|
BACTOF can cause gastrointestinal intolerance, psychoneurologic symptoms and allergic reactions. It can rarely cause malaise, fever, palpitations, taste abnormality, convulsions, acute renal failure, jaundice, hematologic abnormalities, rhabdomyolysis, hypoglycemia in susceptible diabetics, tendon disorders and psychiatric symptoms such as confusion. |

Recommended Dosage & Administration |

Adults: 1 BACTOF-200 / BACTOF-400 Tablet twice daily depending on the severity of infection, or
as prescribed; alternatively 1 BACTOF-400 Tablet once daily. |

Multi-Drug Resistant Tuberculosis / Leprosy: 1 BACTOF-400 daily or intermittently as an adjuvant,
or as prescribed. |
