Therapeutic Indications & Usage |
| |
| |
ERACID is advocated for the treatment of peptic ulcers, NSAID-induced gastroduodenal
damage, reflux esophagitis, as well as in hypersecretory states like Zollinger-Ellison syndrome
and in prevention of aspiration pneumonitis. ERACID is also useful as maintenance therapy
to prevent the recurrence of severe reflux esophagitis or in severe peptic ulcers.
| |
| |
ERACID can be combined with appropriate agents to eradicate H pylori suspected or proven
in various acid-peptic diseases. |

Precautions & Warnings |
| |
| |
ERACID should be used during pregnancy and lactation only if the potential benefit justifies the probable
risks involved. In view of likelihood of pantoprazole to be excreted in human milk, and because of
potential for adverse reactions in nursing infants, a decision should be made whether to discontinue
nursing or ERACID, taking into account the importance of therapy to the mother. Safety and efficacy of
ERACID ingredients in children have not been established.
| |
| |
Symptomatic response to pantoprazole (ERACID) does not preclude the presence of gastric malignancy.
Like other proton pump inhibitors, pantoprazole (ERACID) has potential to cause gastric carcinoids but
the studies have not been conclusive. ERACID tablets must not be crushed, chewed, or split; they must
be swallowed as whole. |

| |

asthenia, back pain, bronchitis, chest pain, constipation, increased cough, dizziness, dyspepsia,
dyspnea, flu syndrome, gastroenteritis, gastrointestinal disorders, hyperlipemia, hypertonia, infection,
liver function tests abnormalities [serum glutamic pyruvic transaminase(SGPT) increased], migraine,
nausea, neck pain, pain, pharyngitis, rhinitis, sinusitis, upper respiratory tract infection, urinary frequency, urinary tract infection.
| |
| |

fever, cyst, malaise, photosensitivity reactions, heat stroke, dehydration, thirst, weight gain / loss,

Drug Interaction |
| |
| |
Since pantoprazole inhibits gastric acid secretion, ERACID could interfere with absorption of
drugs where gastric pH is an important determinant of bioavailability like ketoconazole, ampicillin esters and iron salts.
